Crochet Geometra Cardigan: A Romantic Patchwork Piece
Elegance meets creativity in this flowing, motif-based wrap that blends retro charm with modern comfort.
If you are an extravagant type of person, you may want to try and crochet this patchwork Geometra Cardigan, consisting of 22 square motifs and 1 pentagon.
A Crochet Cardigan with Timeless Appeal
The Geometra Cardigan is the kind of patchwork crochet assembly which turns heads wherever it goes. With its romantic, vintage-inspired feel and contemporary silhouette, it pairs just as beautifully with an elegant summer dress as it does with jeans and a simple top. Whether you’re dressing up or keeping it casual, this cardigan adds a touch of chic to every look.

Patchwork Magic: 23 Motifs, One Seamless Wrap
This design is a true patchwork gem, composed of 23 individual crochet motifs – 22 squares in 3 sizes and 1 pentagon piece. Each motif is made separately, then seamlessly connected in the final round. The diagonal construction creates a unique flow—the front gently hugs the hips, while the back cascades down to the knees. The result is a dramatic yet wearable wrap that feels light, cozy, and effortlessly stylish.

🎨 Help Me Decide: Solid Colors or Stripes?
And here’s where I need your advice! For my new Geometra Cardigan, I can’t decide:
- Should I crochet each motif in a single color, so that the entire cardigan is made of 23 differently colored motifs?
- Or should I make each motif striped — mixing rounds of yellow, lavender, purple, green, turquoise… and create a playful, multicolored effect?
- What colors would you use? Look at the photo of my yarn stash below which I consider using for the new Geometra.

What do you think? Which option sounds better to you — or maybe you have a new idea?
Hit reply and let me know — I’d really love to hear your thoughts!

Intermediate Skills, Rewarding Results
This project is perfect for crocheters with intermediate skills who enjoy working in the round. The stitches used—chain, single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet—are familiar staples, but the way they come together in this design offers a fun and satisfying challenge. If you’ve been looking for something creative that goes beyond the basics, this is it.
Sizes and Stitch Counts Made Simple
The pattern is written in clear US crochet terms and is available in three size ranges: S/M, L/XL, and XXL/XXXL. To keep the diagrams clean and easy to read, they show only 5–7 rounds plus the joining round. But don’t worry—written instructions guide you through exactly how many rounds are needed for your chosen size, and how to continue growing any square that needs extra rounds for the perfect fit.
A Joyful Journey of Construction
What makes this wrap particularly enjoyable is the “join-as-you-go” method. Instead of sewing pieces together at the end, each motif is connected to the next in its final round. This approach helps the design grow naturally in your hands, turning the process into a rhythm of creation where every new square builds the overall shape and movement of the cardigan.
Your Next Handmade Treasure
Whether you’re drawn to the retro-inspired look, the engaging construction, or simply want a standout handmade garment, the Geometra Cardigan offers a fulfilling crochet journey. It’s a chance to play with color, texture, and structure—ending with a piece that’s as comfortable as it is striking.
