Moonchild - 2 Skirts
Two graceful variations of my Moonchild Set
These two knit and crochet skirts are a part of my Moonchild Collection—a light summer knit & crochet set. Moonchild halter-tops, lacy skirts, a brimmed sunhat, romantic bolero, and a chic bracelet create a perfect beach and leisure assembly. Read about it and get the pattern below!
A New Chapter for Moonchild
When I first designed the Moonchild Set, I imagined it as a versatile blend of elegance and comfort — a top and skirt that work beautifully together. But as always with handmade fashion, new ideas keep growing from the old ones. This time, the skirt asked for a life of its own. The result is the Moonchild Long Skirt, a flowing variation that you can now crochet as a stand-alone piece.
From Set to Skirt
The original set was all about balance: a top to highlight the shoulders, and a skirt to ground the look. But the skirt quickly showed me it could go further. Worked in the same stitch rhythm as the set, this longer version drapes with more movement and presence. It’s romantic, yet simple, and pairs just as well with everyday tops as it does with something dressier.
Why You’ll Love It
- A graceful, wearable design that works year-round.
- Clear step-by-step instructions with diagrams.
- The freedom to style it your way — boho, casual, or elegant.
Whether you already crocheted the full Moonchild Set or you’re meeting Moonchild for the first time, this skirt is an invitation to add something timeless to your wardrobe.
Styling Moonchild in Earthy Tones and Black
In the photos, I paired the Moonchild Long Skirt with a sleeveless black top, an open short-sleeved beige shirt, a boho necklace, earrings, and a summer bag I’ve had for years. The tones of beige from the skirt, hat, bag, and jewelry blend beautifully with the deep black of the top and my hair. This mix shows how well the Moonchild pieces work with other clothes and accessories, and how soft, earthy shades come alive when contrasted with black.
Two Ways to Crochet & Knit Moonchild
If you’re drawn to the full experience, the Moonchild Set pattern (9.50 EUR) still includes instructions for both the top and skirt. But if it’s only the skirt that has caught your heart, I’ve extracted the instructions into a separate tutorial for the Moonchild Long and Short Skirts. This tutorial is available on its own for 5.50 EUR, making it easy to dive into the project without committing to the whole set.

Balance in Motion
There’s something special about this set—the way crochet and knitting meet, the contrast of open space and dense texture—that feels a lot like balance. And maybe that’s what Moonchild is all about: a little wild, a little grounded. A dance between Mother Earth and the wandering Moon child.
