J-Lo Crochet Visor Cap
Description
This light cotton cap with a visor is ideal for windy spring days or early fall. The inspiration for making this piece was a similar hat worn by Jeniffer Lopez. The top part of the cap is in the form of a octagon, while the classic, firm visor is decorated with a button one side.

The Cap
Begin from the centre and work in rounds, holding 2 strands of yarn together. Ch 7, close in a circle and continue according to the diagram above.
After you complete the last round, crochet 4 more rounds of hdc (the last 4 rounds should have 48 sts each). DO NOT cut yarn.
The visor
Row 1 – Ch 2, continue in hdc on next 27 stitches. Turn.
Rows 2, 3, 4 and 5 – work back and forth, decreasing 1 st at the beginning and 1 st at the end of each row. The visor is finished after row 5 and you can now crochet 1 round of sc stitches all around the cap to make the edges even. Cut off yarn.
Decorative stripe
Make the stripe of sc stitches, about 3cm wide and the length of the visor and sew it to the cap above the visor. Sew a button at one end of the stripe.
Extra tip – To prevent stretching of the hat, i.e. the part which goes around your head, you can sew a 3-4cm wide elastic band onto the inside edge. This will ensure a firm fit.
