Crimson Frost - Crochet Fingerless Gloves
A Simple idea for crochet fingerless gloves, a stunning 3D design of a decorative flower
A Unique Pair of Crochet Fingerless Gloves
Crochet fingerless gloves are a stylish and elegant addition to any outfit for a couple of reasons. Firstly, Crimson Frost design is perfect for chilly days when you need just a touch of warmth without sacrificing dexterity. Secondly, these crochet fingerless gloves feature a striking crimson 3D flower, which seems to float over a light grey background. Lastly, the contrast between the bold floral motif and the soft, neutral base makes this design both eye-catching and sophisticated. So, whether you’re holding a cup of coffee on a crisp autumn morning or adding a delicate handmade touch to your winter ensemble, these gloves are a perfect choice.
Mastering the 3D Effect in Crochet
One of the highlights of the Crimson Frost Gloves pattern is the opportunity to learn a fascinating 3D crochet technique. In this design, the flower motif is slightly raised and separated from the main fabric, creating a unique layered effect. This technique adds depth and texture to the gloves, making them visually appealing while remaining comfortable to wear. If you’ve ever wanted to experiment with adding dimension to your crochet work, this pattern is an excellent place to start.
Why Crimson Frost?
I chose the name Crimson Frost Gloves because the deep red yarn resembles wild berries, like dog rose, standing out vividly against a snowy white background, creating a striking contrast of warmth and winter’s crisp beauty.
From a Table Mat to a Pair of Gloves
The inspiration for these crochet fingerless gloves came from a personal need. This is to say, I wanted something lightweight yet warm, ideal for transitional seasons like spring and fall. Therefore, I browsed countless patterns online trying to trigger my inspiration. However, nothing quite captured what I had in mind. But then all of a sudden I remembered a crochet Flower Table Mat I had designed earlier. It struck me that the same motif could be repurposed into something completely different! This experience reminded me how versatile crochet can be—sometimes, all it takes is a bit of imagination to transform a familiar design into an entirely new project.

Instructions in a nutshell
Crimson Frost Crochet Fingerless Gloves are completed in several steps. In further text you can read about general stages for making the gloves, while detailed instructions are given in the downloadable PDF pattern below.
Step 1 – Back of the Hand, Flower
You will start crocheting the back of the hand by making the flower first. To do that, start the flower motif in the rounds, according to diagrams that you can see below. The round shape of the flower then transitions into a square by starting crocheting in the loops at the back side. After that, the rest of the square remains detached from the floral motif. The flower is, actually, attached to the square below only with its first round.
Step 2 – Palm
The palm of the glove is also in the shape of a square and you complete it in a similar way as the back of the hand part.
Step 3 – Wrist
After completing the top and palm of the left glove, you start crocheting the wrist part along one open side. On the other hand, when hand pieces are completed for the right glove, you start working the part for the fingers.
You will complete the wrist part of the glove by crocheting dc and fpdc stitches alternately.
Step 4 – Part for the Fingers
The part of the glove where you pull fingers through has separate openings for each finger. For this step you will need 3 stitch markers for marking the stitches where joining will be done. You begin the part for the fingers with light grey yarn and later finish with crimson red as a decorative border.
Step 5 – Thumb
The last step in the make of these fingerless gloves are a few rounds for the thumb, where an opening was left before. Just like in the case of the fingers part, this section starts with light grey and finishes with crimson red as the final touch.
