Description
My last “Mexicana” shawl, made for The International Crafts Fair in Mexico City, has fringe and sleeves which keep the shawl in place. With its unique look and 3/4 sleeves, this exceptional shawl features a little different look than the ones we are used to. Made in fillet crochet technique, in a pattern similar to those of our grandmothers’ tablecloths, this shawl with sleeves will take us back to long past times with the sophisticated, retro look. The shawl can be worn with the front edges falling freely, they can be attached with a broach, tied at the back at waistline, or one end can be pulled through one of the wholes of the other end in the pattern itself, forming a bow.

The pattern contains directions for 2 types of sleeves – knitted or crocheted ones, you can choose to attach fringe or leave the shawl without it, and finally, this project can be made as a shawl, with it’s sides falling freely, or as a cardigan, where its lower sides are sewn together to form a wrap.
In the instructions I’ll guide you through whichever option you choose to make – shawl or cardigan with crochet or knit sleeves, adding fringe or not, creating a shape of a shawl or a wrap. The versatility of this project allows you to play with forms, textures, and create your own unique style.
