The booties are crocheted flat, in one piece with turns. All rows use half double stitches, by adding 1 stitch at the beginning and 1 stitch at the end of each row until you reach half of the work. After that, you do decreases the same way until the end. Each booty is in a shape of a square with one corner looking like it has been cut off, in the place for toes.

Početak heklanja

Odavde počnite oduzimanje: Sl. red – 1pl (ne računa se kao p), 2pvs zajedno, 1pvs u svaku petlju do kraja reda dok ne ostanu 2p; 2pvs zajedno. Okrenuti rad.
Ponavljajte ovaj red dok ne ostanu 3p. U sl. redu uradite 1pl, 3pvs zajedno. Odsecite nit i uvucite je u pletivo.
Isheklajte i drugu patoficu na isti način.

Calculating the number of stitches for toes
The width marked with X (toes) is supposed to be about 10 cm for the female foot, and 12 cm for the male foot. When the booty is folded, we get half of that measurement. To calculate the number of stitches, knit a swatch piece. On the swatch measure 10 (12)cm and count the number of stitches on that length. This will be the number of stitches to begin with. For children’s booties, you can start with 11 sts.
Crocheting the booty
Chain the needed odd number of sts as explained above. For children’s booties start with 11 sts.
Row 1 – Ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch), 1hdc in each st to the end of row. Turn.
Row 2 – Ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch), 2hdc in first st, 1hdc in each st to the last st. In the last st work 2hdc. Turn.
Repeat row 2 until the side marked with a (i.e. from X to b) measures the foot length minus 1 inch. This length should be an inch shorter than the foot because crocheted garments always stretch a bit when worn.
From this point on continue with decreases – at the beginning of each row ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch), dec 1 (= 2hdc tog); then work hdc until there are 2 sts left; work 2hdc together in the last 2 sts. Turn.
Repeat this row until there are 3 sts left. In next row work ch1, 3hdc together. Cut yarn, weave in end.
Make the other booty in the same way.

Fold the piece in half vertically, as shown in Diagram 2 – sides a should be lined up. See photos below too.
Sew sides a along the red line, but leave the part marked with X unsewn for now. Then sew the sides between lines b and c. Cut off yarn and weave in end. Next, squish the booty to be flat so that the seam lies in the middle. Now sew the opening X at the toes. Turn the booty inside out, fold the little unsewn triangle along side c.

Do 1 round of half double crochet around the upper edge of the booty.

I bought the metal tags for these booties in a Chinese shop, where they sell them in a bag of 7-8 pieces.
