However, most of them used fairly simple stitch patterns and often featured long fringe along the hem. The fringe gave those skirts a playful movement, and I found that detail quite intriguing. Still, as I kept looking at the shapes and imagining how they might translate into my own work, I realized I wanted to approach the design in a different way.
Instead of adding fringe, I began experimenting with lacy borders and layered textures that would build the same sense of depth and movement directly into the fabric itself. The idea was to create a skirt that kept the elegant shape I admired but expressed it through a more elaborate crochet structure. Row by row, the design evolved into the Salt & Lace Alba Skirt — a piece with its own character, where lace and texture form layered surfaces and turn the skirt into a truly challenging and distinctive crochet project.
