How To Crochet Double Bobble Stitch

How to crochet double bobble stitch

Crochet double bobble stitch makes your crochet project look fuller, as if crocheted from heavier yarn, so you can use very lightweight yarn or even thread.

Learn how to crochet double bobble stitch with this easy step-by-step tutorial.

Crochet double bobble stitch is one of my favorite texture stitches. I use it especially when I want to add fullness and a rich, 3D look to my project. Whether you cluster the bobbles closely together or scatter them playfully across your work, they instantly liven up anything—from toys and baby blankets to tablecloths, doilies, or blouses. The crochet double bobble stitch works beautifully with lightweight yarn or even thread, yet gives the impression of a much thicker, denser fabric.

Bobbles are usually crocheted from the wrong side so that they pop up on the right side. However, crochet double bobble stitch is a bit different in a way that it pops up less than the regular bobble, and also because it is reversible. When you work with double bobble stitch, your crochet item looks the same on both sides. I used the double bobble stitch to crochet my large Countess Shawl, which can be worn on either side thanks to this reversibility feature.
